Not many kids can have the opportunity to assist in major bushfire, state of emergency, danger periods. Billy-Joe assisted his Dad at Hawkesbury Fire Control. Wilberforce. NSW, during the State of Emergency fires of Xmas 2001 and New Year 2002.
Aside from a Community Certificate from the Mayor of Hawkesbury, B.J. received a Certificate of Recognition from the NSW State Government. Billy-Joe also appeared on Channel 9's Today Show. This portrayed the number of kids that started fires but featured Billy-Joe as an 11 year old who worked 230 hours to help put them out. Sixteen (16), hour days at the start and then twelve (12), hour days after the first two weeks. This was a demanding time on all Firefighters, and Dad is very proud of his dedicated son.
Billy-Joe, (now 17), is a proud member of Hawkesbury Headquarters Rural fire Service, and looks forward to fully assisting in fire fighting control. Displayed are his Certificates from the NSW State Government and Hawkesbury City Council.
September 2006. Billy-Joe attains his BF, (Bushfire Certificate), qualification and is now a qualified Firefighter.
Billy-Joe has his moments of glory. This "photo" was taken after he won the JUNIOR NON MEMBER TROPHY at the Armidale Motor Extravaganza Motor Gymkhana, during March 2003. 12 years of age he drove Dads 1981, 351 Cleveland powered XD Ford Station Wagon to victory in this class.
Excitement, joy, pleasure and total appreciation at the NSW Grand Final of the Holden Ford Nationals held at Homebush Bay in Sydney over the weekend of 30 - 31st August 2003. Billy-Joe was kindly given a Carry Boy Mountain Bike, valued at $400, by the Directors of Carry Boy Australia. This bike was truly out 'of the blue', and Billy-Joe was awe struck by the generosity of this fabulous company. Carry Boy is a true Aussie Company.
